Welcoming our latest addition to the team – Kelly Roberts
It is my pleasure to announce the addition of another member of staff, with Kelly Roberts joining us to increase our candidate sourcing abilities. This brings our total staff numbers to 5, with Chris Fowler, Jackie Vella and Katie Cummins focusing on client liaison and recruiting, and Kelly Mclean (K1) and Kelly Roberts (K2) focusing specifically on candidate liaison and talent sourcing.
With candidates increasingly leaving the industry and competition tightening year on year, it has become increasingly necessary to have dedicated staff who focus on candidates. With more roles than any other automotive specialised agency in Australia, there is simply not enough time in the day for us to be able to serve clients and proactively source candidates.
Kelly has been with us for a few weeks now and is already having a positive impact on our candidate activities, with new candidates joining us in higher numbers.
Christmas hours of operation
With Christmas falling on a Friday this year, our office will be closed from 5pm on the 23rd of December and will officially reopen on Monday the 4th of January.
Whilst the office will be closed, some staff will still be available to assist with any issues that arise on our current assignments, and for any urgent recruitment requests.
2020 in review
I think it is fair to say that we all can’t wait to see the back of this year. 2020 is a time that will be remembered and spoken of with both disdain and admiration. From the lows of April, thankfully the market rebounded sharply in a majority of the segments, with many dealerships setting sales records. Now however, stock becomes the new achillies hill of many brands.
Regions have prospered and suffered simultaneously, with Victorian dealers, in particular, facing a tremendous and unprecedented impact to their operations, which was not felt to the same degree in any other state and territory, or even internationally.
An influx of candidates from the southern states has been noted, but now that things are returning to “normal” down there, whether these candidates continue the discussions to shift north remains to be seen.
In terms of our activities though, a brief overview is as follows:
- NEW candidate applications / registrations – 5045
- NEW recruitment assignments – 249
- Individual job ads placed – 642
- Highest number of applications for a single role – 263
- Highest OTE for a recruited role – $500,000 +
- Candidates submitted to clients – 1228
- Placements where the candidate was sourced from our database (vs seek, indeed, LinkedIn etc) – 59.04%
- Candidate sms alerts sent – 12,877
- Candidate position alerts emailed – 500,000+
www.motorjobs.com.au
Candidates are getting harder to find and not only do we have that to contend with, but www.seek.com.au is dramatically changing their model next year, which is likely going to see a reduction in advertising content and an increase in advertising costs.
Because of this and a number of other considerations, we have been developing a brand new website, which will create a vertical advertising channel for roles associated with anything mechanically orientated.
Where websites like Seek and Indeed try to be everything to everyone, this site is dedicated to a much narrower job hunter and advertiser. In a nutshell, if it involves a motor, we will try and cover it.
It is our goal to build what webjet is to the aviation sector, one location, multiple advertisers, multiple platforms, and to then, with our development team, move the website forward in stages.
Stage one is simply establishing the website, building referral links, and generating traffic. Further stages will involve the ability for advertisers to load their roles directly into the site and for candidates to save their details, job alerts, documents etc
Candidate Recruitment Incentives
Some of the roles we take on can be difficult to fill and it is for that reason that we also have an incentive program for candidates, by way of a $1000 sign-on bonus for eligible roles. This is our way of trying to garner more interest in roles that can traditionally be difficult to fill
How it works:
- Candidate applies for a role that is eligible for our sign-on bonus
- Candidate is successful in their application and secures the position
- Candidate physically starts the position
- After 120 continuous days in the position candidate receives a $1000 gift card
The incentive takes the form of a prepaid gift card of your choosing, from the following providers: BCF, Supercheap Auto, Repco, Bunnings, Virtual MasterCard, Westfield Gift Card, JB HIFI, or a combination of these. This offer is not redeemable for cash and is only available on positions clearly identified as being applicable.
